‘Uqbah ibn Amr reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, tell me about virtuous deeds.” The Prophet replied, “O ‘Uqbah, reconcile with whoever cuts you off, give to whoever deprives you, and turn away from whoever wrongs you.” (Musnad Aḥmad, Hadith No. 17334)
One who does not differentiate between his own people and others is a man of principle. His is a contradiction-free personality. This trait, when developed properly, will turn him into a person who has principled and unilateral ethics.
The great secret of life is realism, and there is no form of realism greater than accepting defeat. To do so is to acknowledge the fact that, far from being ahead of others, one is behind them. In other words, it is to know where one stands in life.
One who is spiritually inclined resorts constantly to his inner mental world–something which no one can take away from him. Such a man possesses inner contentment and is way above all material gain and loss.
