A ship which sails straight at a rock or an iceberg is doomed to disaster. It is the ship which veers temporarily off its course to avoid the reefs which will eventually sail safely into harbor.
Good behavior is completely natural, straight from the heart and based on genuine consideration for others. It is not, of course, something which one “switches on” in the hopes of immediate reward but is something rather which eventually benefits one in innumerable, often intangible, ways, simply because it makes for social harmony at its best.
Wrongdoing is that which wavers in your soul and which you dislike people finding out about.
