By opting for simplicity, one is able to put his time to the best use by not wasting it on irrelevant matters. He does not let his attention be diverted to things which are inessential so far as his goal is concerned.
Those who have no spiritual inclinations allow themselves to be constantly influenced by their immediate surroundings and thus remain unhappily embroiled in human strife. They cannot, like spiritual people, smile when abused. Nor, in countless situations, can they adopt the attitude of ‘forgive and forget.’ They reach such a low ebb mentally and emotionally, that spiritually, they become incapable of making progress.
A man who has discovered God finds peace in natural things. Unnatural and artificial things appear to him as if they cause his inner world to disintegrate and create obstacles to the progress of his spiritual journey.
A believer is one who finds God. Such a person by his very nature becomes a simplicity-loving person. In his eyes, pretensions lose their attraction.
