On Death of a Parent

On Death of a Parent

Addressing the Prophet, God says in the Quran: "Did He not find you orphaned and shelter you?" (93:6) This means that if a person loses a parent and becomes orphaned, then at that very moment God replaces the lost parent for the person. In this verse God promises replacement for the loss incurred by a person when one or both of his parents die. When God makes a person an orphan, He does not become indifferent rather He Himself takes the place of the person's parents. The condition for God replacing the person's parents is that the orphan should not mourn his parent's death. When the Prophet had passed away, Abu Bakr had said that God is still alive and is with us. After losing one's parent, a person must develop the Abu Bakr spirit -- instead of mourning, he should have full faith in God.
