Ibn Kathir has written that fear of God is the essence of faith or iman. This is a very meaningful definition of faith. The feelings produced inside a person depend upon the nature of the entity he has discovered. If one discovers an ant, the feelings produced would be very different from the feelings when one discovers the presence of a tiger. An ant doesn't enliven a person, while when one sees a tiger one becomes completely alive from head to toe. If a tiger can rouse a person to his feet, then imagine the state of the person when he discovers the Creator of the tiger, who is also the Creator of the universe.
