There is a prayer in the Quran: 'Our Lord, grant us good in this world as well as good in the world to come.' (2:201) In other words, the prayer means: 'O God, You have already given me the good of this world. Grant me the good of the next world too.' In this world, all our requirements are being fulfilled, for example, we have been given oxygen, sunlight, food and numerous other bounties. With reference to these bounties that God has already bestowed on us in this world, we should pray to Him to bestow on us the eternal bounties in the world Hereafter as well.
