Once a person came to the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah and urinated there. This deed made him feel repentant later on. The Prophet had the option to beat up the person, but instead of this he forgave the man. Prophet's forgiveness created a sense of shame in him. He returned to his tribe and told his people about what he had done. Then he said that neither did Muhammad scold him nor did he beat him. As a result, both the man and his tribe became Muslims. Thus one should avail of the feeling of repentance that arises in a wrongdoer. To avail of this repentance in a person, the other person has to be patient. If someone does wrong to you, but you remain patient then he will surely feel repentant for what he did and later surrender before you.
