Training one's children does not mean to make them listen to some words or lectures morning and evening. If they are only spoken to in words, then that would not be called training. For training one's children, it is essential that the atmosphere in the house be of a certain kind. That is, the father and mother should themselves live in the manner in which they want their children to lead their lives. For example, suppose that parents tell their child that real significance is of the world Hereafter and true success is one that one receives in the Hereafter. But if the conversation in the house centres around worldly issues and importance is given to material things, then the child will never attach importance to the Hereafter, even if he is lectured on giving preference to the Hereafter over the present world. If you give instruction to your child in words, you must also create such an environment in the house that the child is able to see in it a reflection of what you teach him in words. Only then will your training and upbringing of your child will be of any good and lasting purpose.
