The Quran says: "We make some of you a means of trial for others, to see whether you are steadfast." (25:20) This means that you have to be patient to stand the tests that God will put you to in this world. A person will face tests in the form of various unpleasant experiences, such as being spoken to harshly, being ill-treated by others, etc. In all of these situations, one has to keep patience. It is only after showing such patience will one be considered acceptable before God.
