In the Quran, iman or faith is called marefat (5:83). Marefat means discovery of God. In the hadith, iman is called ilm, or knowledge. The Prophet said that one who realizes that there is no god but God will enter Paradise. Marefat and ilm mean to consciously discover something. Such a discovery is not merely the repetition of certain words, rather it transforms an individual's entire personality.
