A flowing stream is a model for man as it irrigates the fields without expecting anything in return. Without the inculcation of these altruistic values among human beings, no meaningful life on earth is possible.
In order that each should continue on his life’s journey without colliding with his fellow men, it is necessary to establish boundaries, both moral and physical, for all human beings without exception: a balance has to be struck so that there should be no clash between individuals or societies.

The very word ‘Islam,’ from the Arabic silm, connotes peace. According to a tradition of the Prophet, ‘Peace is Islam’. This means that peace is one of the prerequisites of Islam.
While peace is a boon for human society, violence is a curse. Peace fosters a high level of human culture and helps it to flourish, whereas violence breeds a jungle culture. Peace elevates humanity to the level of civilized social existence, whereas violence causes a descent into barbarism. Peace brings the good elements of a society into prominence, while violence does the very opposite.
Scholars have defined peace thus: “Peace is the absence of war.” Peace is generally studied as the antithesis to war. But this is an extremely limited concept of peace. The truth is that peace relates to the entire spectrum of human life. In itself, it is a complete ideology.
The concept of a living and powerful God is necessarily accompanied by the concept of accountability. And, the concept of accountability guarantees right thinking and right actions on the part of man. It makes man cautious by reminding him of God’s chastisement.
Sometimes, in the course of daily life, a feeling of helplessness comes over man; the same kind of helplessness that he experiences after the observation of the universe through a telescope. This helplessness can be overcome only if man submits to his Creator.
It is essential that man should have within his reach, a super formula for life’s management. God provides just such a formula—a complete principle for life’s management.
The true believer is one who leads his life in the sphere appointed for him by God. It is those who unswervingly pursue the course set for them by their Creator, will share God’s blessings in this world as well as His eternal blessings in the Hereafter.
