In the Quran, a believer and his faith are likened to a tree: "Do you not see how God compares a good word to a good tree? Its root is firm and its branches are in the sky." (14:24-25) An important quality of a tree is that it grows continually. A stone does not grow, it will always remains the way it has been. But a tree possesses the unique trait to grow from a seed to stem, trunk, branches, leaves, flowers and fruits. A true believer too is like a tree. A believer's faith keeps growing. Faith is not anything stagnant, rather it is something that grows and strengthens.
