The Prophet once said: 'Know that if all people decide to do some good for you, they would not be able to do so unless if God has destined that good for you. And if all people decide to cause you harm, they would not be able to do so unless God has destined that loss for you.' This prophetic saying tells us something very important. Generally people think that what they want is to be had from a person, and so they begin to run after that person. Also many a times, they come to believe that someone has caused them harm and turn into that person's enemy. Both these attitudes are wrong. If you have received some good from a human being, it is in reality something that you have got from God. Similarly, if you have received harm from some person, in reality it happened because God had destined it for you. If a person develops this attitude, he would neither give someone undue importance nor develop negative emotions for another. In both situations, he will turn to God. If we have received good, we will thank God. If we have lost something we will be patient over what God has decreed. If God has destined loss for us we will surely have to face it. But this loss is not really loss. In truth, both loss and gain in this world are meant for test.
