The Prophet replied: "The best deed in this month is to abstain from things which God has made unlawful." These words of the Prophet imply that there is a spirit of fasting. This spirit is for a person to refrain from all that which God has commanded one to refrain from. Abstinence from the unlawful should become part of a person's life throughout the year.
