As far as the external appearance is concerned both behaviour, patience and cowardice, seem similar. But internally they are quite different. Patience is a principled behaviour while cowardice is a behaviour which is based on sheer interest. If you are satisfied that what you are doing is based on a well-considered principle, then, your case is a case of patience rather than a case of cowardice. Don't bother if people call you a coward.
It is comparison that creates the spirit of shukr (thanksgiving) in your personality. Without comparison there is no shukr. Man is not the maker of planet earth, therefore, the only price he can give to live on it is shukr. One who does not do shukr has no right to live on earth.
Individualism is apparently a beautiful idea but it is not workable. One who insists on individualism is bound to become a hypocrite. He will be forced to adopt the policy of adjustment when his interest is at stake and where he finds that his interest is not at stake he becomes indifferent to the other members of the society.
