When facing unpleasant experience, opting for the way of patience and tolerance does not mean treading the path of defeat or retreat. It is, in fact, a future-oriented plan. It amounts to a voluntary acceptance of reality. This means that, even after losing something, one has always to remember that one is still in possession of many other things, utilizing which, one can build anew.
Quran attaches great importance to patience. Patience is set above all other Islamic virtues with the exceptional promise of reward beyond measure.
Non-violence should never be confused with inaction or passivity. Non-violence is action in the full sense of the word. Rather it is more forceful an action than violence. It is a fact that non-violent activism is more powerful and effective than violent activism. Non-violent activism is not limited in its sphere. It is a course of action which may be followed in all matters.
According to Islamic belief, both men and women are born as equal partners in life. In a fine-expression of gender equality, the Quran declares: “Never will I waste the work of any of you, be he male or female: You are members, one of another.” (3:195)
