One of the three astronauts who travelled on the Apollo 15 American spacecraft was Colonel James Irwin. He later described the magic of that moment, in August 1972, when he set foot on the moon.

It was an ecstatic experience, he said, to feel oneself in God's presence, to feel so close to Him that His greatness appeared before one's eyes.

Colonel Irwin did not look on his voyage to the moon as a voyage of mere scientific discovery; it had given him a new spiritual life as well.

Always live in a humble manner

On 15 August 1969, India's Independence Day was being celebrated in the Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Mohammad Hidayatullah was, at that time, acting President of the country. In his book of memoirs, My Own Boswell (pp. 245-246), he recalls the impressiveness of the occasion, with the escort of the military secretaries, aides-de-camp and the President's Body Guard, all in their splendid uniforms. "We made a glittering sight," he writes, and he admits that, "I felt a little pride."

A believer loves simplicity

A person, who discovers God, starts living by nature on the plane of higher realities. He rises above outward, superficial things and finds sources of interest in the world of piety. Such a person by his very nature becomes a simplicity loving person. His motto is simple living and high thinking.
